Mohave County Jail Visitation Guideline

CORONA VIRUS (covid 19) UPDATE:
MOHAVE COUNTY SHERIFF:

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the community of operational adjustments to our Main Office and Substations and at our Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in regards to COVID-19.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is closely monitoring the situation as it pertains to our jail and is in close contact with the Mohave County Department of Public Health to receive up-to-date information regarding the spread of this disease.

At the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility:

 All volunteer services for inmates are suspended indefinitely, including Chaplains, Alcoholics
Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, etc.

 All inmate work crews and projects outside the facility are suspended until further notice.

 All in-person inmate professional contact visits will require close review and approval, including
Constables, Defense Investigators, Attorneys, etc.

 Deep cleaning of all areas of the detention facility is being conducted. Proper hygiene of the staff and i
nmates is being encouraged. Common areas of the inmate pods are being frequently disinfected and inmates are being given proper cleaning materials to clean and disinfect their housing area.

 Extra screening procedures are being conducted by medical staff to evaluate incoming detainees for
possible signs and symptoms of COVID-19. If any incoming detainee displays signs of the virus, they will be properly isolated until such time that a diagnosis can be determined.

 Staff is being encouraged to stay home if they exhibit any signs or symptoms of the disease (cough,
fever, shortness of breath). Our ultimate goal is to ensure the safety and health of our staff, inmates, and community.

For individuals that are awaiting trial and unable to post a bond or defendants serving a term of incarceration as a term of probation, the Mohave County Jail becomes their temporary home.  Being locked up in the county jail can be a very isolating experience.  Fortunately family and friends of defendants have the opportunity to visit their loved ones who are locked up. These visits can bring welcome comfort to a situation that is usually filled with great despair.
