Tri-City Task Force Leads the Charge in DUI Enforcement Efforts in Yavapai County

Yavapai County has a reputation for being a beautiful place to live, work and play, but it's also known for having a high incidence of DUIs. In an effort to keep the roads safe and prevent DUI accidents, the Tri-City Task Force has been conducting several DUI enforcement initiatives in the county.

Recently, on April 18, 2023, the Tri-City Task Force conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol in Yavapai County. The detail was conducted between all participating agencies with a total of:

  • 7 different officers and deputies from each jurisdiction.
  • The officers made 40 traffic stops in total
  • with 2 DUI drug arrests,
  • 12 speeding citations and
  • 22 civil citations other than speed.
One of the DUI arrests was particularly notable, as the driver admitted to consuming THC-infused edibles during lunch and was subsequently arrested.

This enforcement detail comes on the heels of another successful traffic safety operation. On February 2, 2023, the Tri-City Traffic Task Force conducted Speed and Aggressive Driving enforcement on Yavapai County roadways.

Eight total Law Enforcement Officers from the Tri-City agencies including Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, Department of Public Safety, Prescott Police Department, Prescott Valley Police Department, and Chino Valley Police Department targeted the Williamson Valley and Kirkland areas covering Iron Springs Rd, Williamson Valley Rd, and HWY 89 between Yarnell and Wilhoit.

The officers conducted 61 total traffic stops, resulting in 87 total citations, including

  • 53 speeding citations,
  • 1 cell phone citation,
  • 2 unsafe passing citations, and
  • 31 additional civil sanctions.

On St. Patrick's Day, the Prescott Police Department, as part of the Tri-City DUI Task Force, participated in DUI saturation patrols in conjunction with the holiday. On Friday, March 17th, extra enforcement occured throughout the day to prevent impaired driving.

These initiatives by the Tri-City Task Force demonstrate a concerted effort to combat impaired driving and promote public safety in Yavapai County. DUI arrests and convictions can have severe consequences, including fines, jail time, and the loss of driving privileges.
